Our rock pool experience is a fantastic hands on learning opportunity for children of all ages!
After our busiest year yet, your school may have heard about our experience days and be wondering, what exactly does it involve?
To give you a brief introduction, all our experience days are delivered by our expert Marine Rangers. We always get so much positive feedback about how knowledgeable and entertaining they are!
The Rangers can start with an educational talk incorporating topics of your choice, whether that’s about the rock pool creatures themselves, ocean conservation, plastic pollution, beach safety etc.
This can also be tailored to the year group; we have visited nurseries and pre-schools through to year 6 and SEN children of all ages.
Children are then invited to observe, touch and even hold the creatures and they are encouraged to ask as many questions as they can think of! Our Marine Rangers have lots of intriguing facts to share about all of our creatures.
We bring a wide variety of rock pool inhabitants from different types of crabs and starfish as well as mussels and mermaid’s purses.
The range of textures and shapes mean the rock pool is also a fantastic sensory experience.
