Their gentle presence and adaptability within an aquarium make them a calming and relaxing part of social areas, GP surgeries, dental waiting rooms as well as classrooms.

Shubunkins

Translated literally as “Red Brocade”

Originating from Japan, Shubunkins are a single tailed variety of goldfish, prized for their hardy nature and calico colouration.  Their scales often display a rare blue sheen, made more striking by splashes or orange and black. 

Combined with their sleek build and darting agility, they bring both colour and vitality to any aquarium.

Behaviour: Shubunkins are very peaceful fish and thrive with other goldfish varieties and similarly tempered species.  They are active and energetic, constantly swimming and exploring every part of the tank.

Size: 8-10” (20-25cm)

Origin: The shubunkins are of Japanese origin

Common Goldfish

Carassius Auratus

The Common Goldfish is by far one of the most favourite cold water fish species to own as a pet for most hobbyists, mainly for its delightful colouration and peaceful, friendly nature.  Known for their sociable characteristics, they thrive well in communities – a must have for any cold water aquarium.

Behaviour: Common goldfish are social fish who prefer living in groups. They are able to interact with any fish belonging to the same species. Common goldfish can become tame.

Size: 6-8” (15-20cm)

Sarasa Comet

Comet-tailed Goldfish

Sarasa Comets are more elegant than their Common Goldfish friends.  Known for its bright colouration, patterned in bold red and clean white and deeply forked tail that flows behind like a delicate streamer.

They bring an almost angelic quality to the aquarium.  Enhancing the calming and relaxing experience of leasing a fish tank.

Behaviour: The Comet is more active than most other goldfish breeds. It is not unusual to see a Comet dashing back and forth in his tank, racing around in a playful manner.

Size: 8-12” (20-30cm)

Origin: Bred and developed in the United States

Yellow Goldfish

Canary Yellow

The Yellow Goldfish is a sunny, cheery fish which has captured the hearts of many aquarium hobbyists over the decades.

Unlike the more common orange, the yellow goldfish displays a rarer hue, ranging from soft buttercream to brilliant gold.  Its colouration, combined with its peaceful demeanour, makes it a captivating and elegant presence in any aquatic environment

Behaviour: Yellow goldfish are active and curious fish who love to swim around their aquarium.  They are peaceful in nature and love the company of other goldfish.
